Day 2 (Xbox, Bethseda, Devolver) Recap | E3 2018

Xbox One S

XBOX

Xbox started off strong with a tease of what everyone is expecting to the next installment of the Halo series, and it's called Halo: Infinite. We didn't get any information on this, but we now know it exists. Next, a new Ori game was announced, but I personally am tired of side-scrollers... so on to the next game, Sekiro, which looks like Xbox's own Bloodborne (No complaints from me!).

The most exciting part of the conference to that point was when we got an exclusive look at the newest Fallout game, Fallout: 76. We now know that this game takes place before all the others and contains a map that is four times the size of Fallout 4's map. We also learned that the Fallout franchise will be available on the Xbox Game Pass, a paid subscription service that allows you access to tons of games.

We went on to see glimpses of Crackdown 3, Metro: Exodus, a new game by the creators of Life is Strange called The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirits, and then we saw something that took years to finally come to fruition...KINGDOM 'MOTHAFUCKING' (that is my addition) HEARTS 3!! We saw Sora and the gang in the Frozen, Monsters INC., Toy Story, and Hercules worlds with a really good and smooth looking graphics as well as some interesting interactions with the characters.

Forza Horizon 4 was announced, that's all I'll say about a driving game.

Players Unknown Battlegrounds (PUBG) announced two different maps that will be coming to  the game throughout the year as well as a new mode called, War Mode. This mode looks like it will be a team game like a 50 v 50 or something that is similar. The maps seem to be a summer vacation spot that will be releasing in summer and a winter map that , you guessed it, will release in the winter.

The Division 2 cover

Following that we got the announcement and gameplay of The Division 2. The game looks beautiful and seems to take place in Washington D.C. We see a drone and a bomb that unleashed a bunch of seeking bombs during the gameplay, so we see that it is slightly more advanced than the first one. We got a release date of March 19th, 2019, and a BETA is apparently on its way as we were told to go sign up today, but I have not seen a link for it yet. UPDATE: For early sign-up click here: https://tomclancy-thedivision.ubisoft.com/game/en-us/beta

We then got a look at Shadow of a Tomb Raider and a new skateboarding game called Session, both look amazing. Which was followed by a world premiere of Devil May Cry 5, which I am personally not a fan of, but I know there is a large following for.

Cuphead is getting DLC with a new playable character as well as some new levels and bosses so you can go yell at a television on the bullshit that is Cuphead in 2019 when it releases.

The conference wrapped up with a bunch of World Premieres …. The was from Bandai Namco, and was a new fighter called Jump Force, which contained all of the most popular Anime characters all the way from Goku to Light Yagami and his Shinigami. The next was none other than Dying Light 2, the sequel to the popular open-world zombie game that released in 2015. Following that was the console exclusive, Battletoads. The fourth announcement was of Just Cause 4, which was leaked yesterday by Steam posting it up for purchase, and will be available December 4th. Sixth was the biggest tease of the night as everyone thought it the announcement of Gear of War 5, but it turns out to be a new Funko Gears POP! and a new PC game called Gears Tactics, but when we were at our lowest point they did announce Gears Of War 5. Then we finally get the announcement of Cyberpunk 2077 by the creators of The Witcher 3. This game has been long awaited and we only got a trailer, but that was the most hype way to end their conference.

BETHSEDA

Bethesda started the conference off with a slight jab at Walmart and their ability to keep a secret (since they leaked a bunch of E3 games over a month ago), and thanks to Walmart we knew about the first game talked about at their conference, Rage 2. We are given an extended look into the dystopian wasteland in which Rage 2 will take place in, as well as some gameplay. In the game we play as Walker, and in the gameplay we saw how smooth and beautiful the driving mechanics are as well as the different variety of combat situations one might find themselves in while playing the game. It is expected to release in Spring of 2019.

The next game that was talked about was the Elder Scrolls card game, Elder Scrolls Legends. This game is currently only on mobile and PC, but they announced that this game will be coming to Xbox, PlayStation and Switch. You will also be able to transfer any progress on mobile and PC to the consoles when it releases. Following that was Elder Scrolls: Online, and they announced their next DLC that will be releasing for the game, which they said will be a dungeon DLC.

Following up that relatively unsurprising and lackluster presentation of the Elder Scrolls, we got a teaser of the next Doom, and it's called DOOM: ETERNAL. We only got the announcement, sadly, but we will hear more on this at QuakeCon later this year. The next thing we got was a look at Quake Champions, but nothing too major there, especially since an announcement of Prey DLC was right after! Available now is three new game modes: New Game +, Survival, and the DLC Mooncrash. Typhon Hunter will be released later this year, and it is essentially Prey's version of Prop Hunt.

Do you like Nazis? If you answered no to that question, the next game announced is for you. Wolfenstein: Youngblood, the continuation of the series will take place in Paris and you play as BJ's daughters. This game will be co-op for the first time in the series. WAIT THERE'S MORE! There is now a VR Wolfenstein called Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot, where you play as a hacker that hacks into Nazi robots..… ok enough Wolfenstein, BRING ME FALLOUT!

Fallout 76

Finally, Fallout: 76! Once again this game will be four times the size of Fallout 4 and will be set before any other game in series in the hills of West Virginia, and you will play as one of the first people to begin to settle outside of the vault. There will be six different types of areas that you will be able to explore as you quest. THIS GAME WILL BE MULTIPLAYER! Every person within the game is actually a real person and will be an open world. Dying will not mean the loss of any progress within the game, and every time you log on you will be in a world with only a few dozen players. As you travel through the wasteland with friends, you will be able to build a base and move it as you please. Now, what is the biggest weapon in the game? Well, um, it's a Nuke. You are able to find multiple launch codes throughout the game, and once you have enough, you will be able to launch a nuke at your enemies or friends (if you want to be a dick about it). There will be a BETA for this game, but the full game will release November 14, 2018!!!! P.S. The collector's edition comes with a power armor helmet that is wearable!! If you need something to hold over your Fallout fix until then, Fallout Shelter is now on the PS4 and Switch.

If you need another game to play, a new full Elder Scrolls game called Elder Scrolls: Blades. This game will be available for pre-order on the phone tonight, this game will be free and will be eventually playable on all consoles including high-end VR sets.

Now if you thought that wasn't enough for one conference, well sit back because Bethesda announced a completely new series that will be coming some time in the future. The game is called Starfield and seems like it is an open world space game from a slight glance. Now is that enough? No? Ok well, to completely cap off the night we got the announcement of Elder Scrolls VI. Both of these games are projects for the future, and will probably not be available anytime soon sadly, but this was a hell of a conference!

DEVOLVER

So Devolver essentially trolled everyone with a parody of the stereotypical E3 conference to begin. The first game that was announced was called Scum and is a battle royal game that will be available in August on steam.

After some more nonsense, we got a look at a game called My Friend Pedro, which is a side scroller shoot-em up coming to the Switch and PC in 2019.

I'm sensing a pattern as once again there was some more bullshit and then the announcement of Metalwolf Choas XD, which will release on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC later this year.

You'll never guess what happened next, wait did you guess some bullshit? Oh, then I guess you can guess, as the conference ended with the murder of the host Nina Struthers. Then a tease of her being completely rebuilt as a robot for next year's conference... As entertaining as this was to watch, I have to ask, what the fuck did I just watch?

Anyway, Day 2 of E3 2018 has officially wrapped! Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram @ScriptOfMyth, and check back for updates on all of tomorrow's conferences right here on our website.
