THIS BLOG WILL BE UPDATED THROUGHOUT THE DAY
SQUARE ENIX
Square Enix started by showing the beginning cutscene from the newest installment of the Tomb Raider franchise, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider. The game will take place within a forest area, and the game play that was being shown gives us a look at the many different ways Lara Croft can utilize the various weapons throughout the game to perform takedowns and straight-up stone cold killings.Final Fantasy XIV Online is receiving a new patch to the game called Under the Moon, as well as some Monster Hunter content that will be released this Summer.
We got another look at The Amazing Adventures of Captain Spirit, which is a free game that will be releasing on June 26th. This game will be similar to the Life Is Strange game, as in it will be an episodic adventure game.
Dragon Quest XI was the next game that was shown as we watched a trailer for the game. It will release September 4h this year on PS4 and PC.
Babylon's Fall looks to be a medieval adventure game that will be released sometime in 2019 for the PS4 and PC. We only got a slight tease of the game.
Nier: Automata Become as Gods Edition will be coming to the Xbox One on June 26th.
Octopath Traveler is coming to the Switch on July 13th!
Just Cause 4 was announced yesterday at Microsoft's conference, but we finally got more of a look at the game. We will be playing as Rico Rodriguez again in this beautiful open world game with added craziness. The game will be available Dec. 4th, 2018.
We next got a tease for a game called The Quiet Man with more information coming in August. The only gameplay we saw was of a man that walks into an alley and beats up a group of men. Simple but interesting.
They closed out the conference by showing the teaser we saw yesterday at Microsoft's conference of Kingdom Hearts 3. The game finally got an official release date of January 29th, 2019, but we were offered no more news at this conference.
UBISOFT
After some flubbed lines to start the show, the Ubisoft conference went straight into a dance performance headlined by a dancing panda to announce the new Just Dance 2019 which is coming out this October. Without any more words to slow the conference down, Beyond Good and Evil 2 was up next. They initially showed a CGI trailer like last year but it is undeniably beautiful and sets up a great tone for the game. After announcing a closed-door demo, they showed a small taste of a pre-alpha footage. However, the biggest surprise with Beyond Good and Evil 2 is a partnership with HitRecord (started by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his brother) to bring together fans and creators alike to make original music and artwork for the game. (not mentioned in the showcase but later revealed that people will get paid for their contributions)
Following this, a community developer from Rainbow Six: Siege came out onto the stage to celebrate the game hitting 35 Million players as well as mention a few of the updates the game has undergone over the past two and a half years. The last Siege news was the trailer for a documentary, Another Mindset, about eight community members who went beyond just the game.
Trails is back! Fans of the 2.5D action racer can rejoice because the next big installment of Trails is here in the form of Trails: Rising. Also be sure to go to www.trailsgame.com to play the closed beta for the game before its February 2019 release date. It is coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC and the Nintendo Switch.
After the gameplay reveal yesterday at the Microsoft conference, The Divison 2 unsurprisingly returned to the E3 2018 stage at Ubisoft. There was a new cinematic trailer for the game and it was superbly done in a long take that set the stage perfectly for the game. Along with some new class information for the post-game, they also revealed the introduction of Raids to The Division. And the Year One planned content ( which includes Episode 1, Episode 2 and Episode 3) will be free for all players. All-in-all The Division 2 showcase was very solid and felt significant even after the showcase yesterday. If you missed it yesterday, The Division 2 will be coming out March 15, 2019.
In celebration of the new Mario Rabbids: Kingdom Battle Donkey Kong DLC, there was a live musical performance. Although the performance was great, but definitely changed the pace of the show. Donkey Kong Adventure DLC will be out on June 26, 2019.
Following this was the rather niche title that was announced at a previous Ubisoft E3, Skull & Bones. After a brief developer statement, a brief gameplay segment was shown. The game, along with its great graphics, plays like a tighter version of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag.
Elijah Wood, the founder of SpectreVision, came onto the stage next to give more details about their psychological thriller, Transference, which comes out for VR platforms later this year.
Last year, we got to see a unique open world toys-to-life game called StarLink. This year, we got a gameplay preview along with a new trailer showing off some of the different environments in the game. However, the biggest highlight of the gameplay reveal though was the reveal of StarFox in StarLink. Needless to say, the crowd went wild. StarLink will be out this October on all systems and keep in mind that StarFox is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
If you have not played For Honor yet, now is your chance with the announcement of the games free release on UPlay from June 11 through June 18. Following that news, a trailer was shown for For Honor: Marching Fire, along with a new mode: Breach.
Rolling onto the stage after For Honor was The Crew 2 which has an open beta the week leading up to its release so you can taste the fun before biting the bullet on it. The Crew 2 comes out June 29.
Then the big hitter: Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. For those who aren't caught up yet, Odyssey takes the Assassin's Creed series to Ancient Greece and takes place well before the events of last year's Origins. Leaning more on player choice, Odyssey will start with your selection of the male or female character that you will play for the rest of the game. Assassin's Creed: Odyssey will be out October 5.
