Day 1 (EA Play) Recap | E3 2018

The largest video game conference has officially begun with EA starting off a conference with EA Play, an event where gamers can go and watch the conference and play some of the upcoming titles.

As expected we received some more details on EA's heavy hitting games that are coming out like Battlefield V and Anthem. Battlefield V's information was very scarce, but we did get the announcement of a royal mode in the game, which is not surprising to anyone. Anthem, on the other hand, was an overload of information. There are four different Javelin's, the robotic armor your character wears, that we will have access to and be able to switch at any point. The four classes are the Ranger, Colossus, Storm, and Interceptor. The game will be releasing the same day as the PS4 exclusive, Day's Gone, on Feb. 22, 2019. Theses were not the only games talked about as we did have some surprises as well.

In typical E3 fashion we got announcements of games that most of us were not expecting. During this conference we got the announcement of Unraveled Two, which is the sequel to EA's Unraveled that was released February of 2016 and received a ton of praise with an IGN score of 8.3. Wait, what is that? This game is also available to download today! Good job EA, you made me give even more money...at least this doesn't have loot boxes, am I right?!?!?!?! Unraveled Two will be co-op with the option to go through Yarny's newest solo. Another announcement that was kind of looked over was an announcement of the next Star Wars game by Respawn called Jedi Fallen
Order.

The game will take place in the universe between Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith and Episode 4: A New Hope (so during the time of Rogue One?). This is great because this means that we are moving away from the Battlefront games, which have been just ok, and into something that may actually lean on the story telling that Star Wars is very much known for. As an extra bonus for those who do actually play Battlefront 2, they are also adding DLC for the game that will give you some areas and heros from Clone Wars. The heros that will be added are Obi Wan, General Grievous, Count Dooku and Anakin Skywalker.

We did get some looks at the sports games as well, but there is nothing too new to any of the sports franchises that EA makes, which is FIFA, Madden, and NBA Live.

We got two other games that were announced. One is called Sea of Solitude, and will be releasing on everything but the Nintendo switch. This game is trying to explore someone's mind as the are constantly lonely, and seems to rely on the story aspect as the gameplay doesn't look too exciting. The other game that was announced was a Command & Conquer mobile game. We actually watched a full match of this game being played, and may I say that this was the most boring part of the conference, and I personally will not be looking to play this title at all.

This was a great way to start off E3, and the fun continues tomorrow at 4 PM EST with Xbox's conference.
